This PVC roof was installed recently in Farmington Connecticut. This was a very difficult residential flat roof, every possible scenario placed in 450 square feet.
The interior of the home was exposed timber ceilings with a tongue and groove ceiling mad from 1 inch maple. The roof sheathing and the ceiling were one unit, therefore insulation had to be addressed from the roof. The customer wanted to achieve US Department of Energy suggested value of R49, using PolyIso, this is 9 inches of hard insulation. However, we had to acheive quarter inch pitch per IBC standard. This was done using 3 layers of 3 inch polyisocyanurate insulation with a glue system known as Olybond. This protects us from sending screws through the amazing ceiling!
There were also numerous dormers sitting in the middle of the flat roof. To make these completely water tight we wrapped all sides of the dormers with a fully adhered 50 mil pvc 12 inches up all faces. We flashed with termination bar and mastic, separated GAF asphalt shingles from the PVC with a 12 inch sheet of aluminum, and prepared the pitched roofs using the best synthetic underlayments we could find from Titanium.
We then installed new rake boards with 1 by 10 pine, installed the cedar clap board siding, installed a wood nailer around the perimeter, a 2 inch gravel stop so that we could channel all the water to custom made scuppers.
10 years workmanship, superior installation and understanding, lifetime materials warranty, and this only cost our customer 0.00, knowledge of IBC and Energy Code, insurance claim negotiation, makes happy customers.
