After a brief hiatus to shop for windows, we framed our first floor walls, which is very similar to the way you would frame your walls in a big house.
This video is also a bit of a rant about the Tumbleweed Elm plans we bought (sorry, Tumbleweed, but the plans kind of sucked). The plans were a digital download only that cost us about 0, and we were extremely disappointed with the quality.
Lots of misprints, measurements that did not make sense (the outside dimensions of a shelf were 1’7″ and the inside dimensions were 11’9″), and several schematic drawings with no dimensions at all, or only vertical lengths but no horizontal lengths, etc.
I can’t say we didn’t learn ANYTHING from their plans, but really there was so much information missing that I would honestly recommend NOT to buy them. If we had it to do over again, we would have purchased plans elsewhere, or perhaps bought the HOMe plans from TinyHouseBuild.com for about half the price, and just modified the heck out of them to get the look we wanted on the outside.
