This short demo illustrates how easy it is to self-produce one’s own research videos by enlisting Camtasia studio’s powerpoint presentation format and picture-in-picture option (this is a crudely edited version of a longer video). There are various bells and whistles available as well. A format with the presenter on the side of the p-point slides is also available and arguably better because you can make the presenter larger without cutting into slide space, but those are difficult to produce into a single sharable video file. Instead, Camtasia presents them using a folder of files that include two separate videos (p-point and presenter running simultaneously). I believe that could still be used were the hosting done at the home site, though that approach is virtually impossible to upload to hosting services such as youtube (I found one user-to-user suggestion for how to create a single side-by-side vid, though it would take considerable effort, and as one Camtasia service expert noted, it would probably require lots of calibration attemps.
