Before we begin, I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which I’ve been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my Savior, even in something as small as this. Amen.

Amateur Extension Theater 2000 is walking! Walking straight into the creepiest castle ever built, courtesy of a generous grant from the Kremling Krew Korporation’s tourism branch. I’m your tour-guide host, Alkahest, asking you to please watch your step as Kremlings don’t believe in using guardrails in their flying castles, and it’s a loooooooooooooooooooong way down.
Produced by Rare and featuring the musical stylings of Grant Kirkhope, Donkey Kong 64 is an action/platformer game that stars Donkey Kong and his entire crew, as they race against time to save not only their home of DK Island, but one other, from the sinister machinations of King K. Rool and his Kremling Krew. Since I never played the game myself, ’tis all I can tell ya about it, sorry.
Creepy Castle is indeed a majestic edifice that floats high up in the sky, or so I’ve read and semi-observed in playthroughs, at least. Its exact origins are shrouded in mystery, but at the very least we can assume the castle to be an ancestral keep belonging to K. Rool’s ancestors. In addition to being kind of creepy, it’s also mysterious and spooky. *tries to snap his fingers…. and fails* Aww. Darn.
Er, anyway, the main theme was composed by Grant Kirkhope. Portions of it actually reminded me of the little musical cue that played in the original Donkey Kong arcade game, when DK grabbed Pauline and climbed up, up, and a good ways further up the skyscraper he’d brought her to. Coincidence? I’m betting not. Kirkhope must’ve had fun making this tune; it’s just very addictive, and the evil laughter does compliment it very well, unlike some tracks where sounds are overlayed onto the melody.
To wax nostalgic briefly, I first became aware of this tune back in the early days of MP3s, courtesy of an old website called BigMog.com — though it’s long since disappeared, ’twas here that a cool moogle lovin’ dude uploaded great MP3s for people’s listening pleasure. I discovered this theme there by accident, and fell in love.
For the record, DanielDaBandGeek95, one of the music extending pioneers here at Youtube, covered this particular tune first. I’m just doing my own take on this classic theme, very belatedly after the fact. Visit his channel if’n ye want to find more cool DK64 extended music!
Tch, looks like we’ve walked as far as we can. We’re gonna have to go the rest of the way by… barrel cannons! Whoo-hoo! See you at the cannon queue next episode, viewers.

Man, even anthropomorphic crocodile folks can snap their fingers! I feel so inadequate.
