We take a hands-on look at Philips’ latest addition to the hue family of remote-controlled lights: the Lightstrip Plus.
The Lightstrip Plus comes with very “frustration-free” packaging, without those annoying ties to undo for the cables. Power block is compatible with 100-240 volt electric systems and even has an interchangeable plug.
The new Philips hue product lives up to the brightness expectations, holy cow! 1600 lumens of brightness (at 4200 Kelvin – or closer to daylight color temperature) delivers the light of two 60-watt incandescent light bulbs. Both the color changing and new white LEDs do a beautiful job of reproducing just about any color you can imagine. With the addition of cool and warm separate LEDs, Philips can now achieve a wider color spectrum, along with usable, tuneable white light.
We show off the app and adding it to my existing Philips hue bridge, which is super-easy.
A full review will be coming once I’ve had some time to integrate the Lightstrip Plus into my home automation system and environment.
The 2-meter long Lightstrip Plus retails for .95 USD and is sold in North America and Europe. 1-meter extensions are available for .95 USD each but seem to be sold out right now as Amazon’s product listing for them disappeared.
Use the link below to grab the Lightstrip Plus itself (Philips hue bridge — old or new — is required).
