Video of the week — igus linear sides and motors give excellent performance, even under water
reliable linear drives for harsh environments
Linear drive expert igus has added new additions and line extensions to its proven drylin linear slide and motor range. The new dylin W products were developed to solve corrosion and hygienic issues that can take their toll on the performance and service life of equipment operating in difficult environmental conditions such as in the food, clean room and chemical industries.
For the effective performance of applications in these sectors the mechanical components must be able to operate reliably whether they are under water, being cleaned, in areas that are susceptible to condensation or splashes, and even if they are exposed to chemicals or other aggressive media. The stainless steel drylin W linear slide ensures optimum performance and the new 16mm diameter shaft and housing option has high chemical resistance and maximum corrosion resistance. When combined with the new IP 65 2-phase hybrid stepper motor which is splash water protected, the complete system delivers exceptional performance in wet environments. The IP 65 motor is offered in NEMA size 23 and is very easy to install.
Another new addition to the range that works well in a vacuum or under water applications is the IP 68 motor. This can be submerged to water depths of up to 10 metres and is also suitable for use in vacuum equipment as it doesn’t require any lubrication. Furthermore it is resistant to radiation and in combination with the stainless steel drylin linear slides is a perfect solution to underwater applications.
The two new additions do not require any maintenance, are universally applicable to other components in the drylin range and are the ideal fit and forget solution.
