In 2014, my husband and I decided to remodel our 19 year old kitchen. We didn’t want to spend a fortune gutting the kitchen and starting over, so we decided to paint the cabinets white since that is timeless and now the trend.
Sorry, we only had pictures of our kitchen remodel. I never thought of videotaping our work for YouTube.
Our once beautiful white washed cabinets had badly yellowed all on the outside of the doors and face frames where they were exposed to natural sunlight. The cabinet clear coating was starting to flake off especially around the sink and dishwasher area.
The wallpaper was faded and coming loose in some areas. The Formica countertops and appliances were in great shape, but were dated.
Our ceiling is 9′ in height and the upper kitchen cabinets were only 30″ in height, so we figured we would add some height to the upper cabinets by adding crown molding and adjusting some of the upper cabinets to different heights.
Watch the Video to see how we transformed our badly dated kitchen into a brand new looking kitchen by a lot of hard work and smart choices.
We’ve had so many compliments on this kitchen and people can’t believe the cabinets are now over 22 years old; they still look brand new.
Also everyone loves the decorator tape on the granite edges and thinks it’s installed inside the granite. I’m currently working on selling the stainless decorator tape at www.graniteseams.com.
Thanks for watching and I plan on adding more remodeling projects and various videos.
